Location – Where is Devdari Waterfall?

Devdari Waterfall is located inside the Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. Surrounded by dense forests, rocky cliffs and natural streams, it is one of the region's most beautiful and peaceful waterfalls, often visited along with Rajdari.

The sanctuary lies roughly 70 km from Varanasi, and most visitors approach through the small town of Chakia. That figure is a regional approximation from the UP Eco-Tourism Board, not a door-to-waterfall road distance, so check live map routing on the day you travel.

Good to know: Incredible India lists sanctuary hours as 06:00–17:00. Treat this as provisional — current gate timings, entry fees and parking charges have not been independently verified. Check with local forest authorities before you travel.

How to Get There

Reach Devdari by road from Varanasi (approx. 70 km) or Chandauli. You can travel by private car, taxi, bus or shared jeep via Chakia. The nearest major railway station is Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Junction, formerly Mughalsarai, and the nearest airport is Varanasi.

  • Nearest Airport Varanasi (~65–95 km)
  • Nearest Railway DDU Junction (~50 km)
  • By Road Via Chakia
  • Shared jeep: the district suggests a jeep from Mughalsarai to Chakia, then a second jeep towards Devdari. Confirm the last return ride before you set off.
  • Taxi: agree the round-trip fare, tolls, parking, waiting time and pickup point before paying.
  • Bus: buses may serve Chakia, but there is no verified direct bus to the falls.

Airport distances vary between official sources because they measure to different points of the sanctuary.

Hotels & Stays

Plan a comfortable stay in Chakia, Chandauli or Varanasi with a range of options including hotels, resorts, homestays and forest rest houses (subject to availability and permission). Choose from budget-friendly rooms to comfortable stays for families and groups.

  • Hotels In Chakia & Chandauli
  • Homestays Local & Family Stay
  • Resorts Nature Surroundings
  • Mostly a day trip: there is no ordinary hotel directly at the falls, so most visitors return to Chakia, Chandauli or Varanasi the same evening.
  • Forest rest houses such as Rajdari Forest Rest House are listed by UP Eco-Tourism but may need permission or advance booking.
  • Varanasi has the widest choice if you are combining Devdari with a city stay.

We never list invented room rates or "available tonight" claims. Contact properties directly to confirm.

Food & Restaurants

Enjoy authentic Uttar Pradesh cuisine and local flavours at eateries in Chakia, Chandauli and on the way to the waterfalls. From simple dhaba meals and tea stalls to family restaurants, you'll find tasty, fresh and affordable food options during your trip.

  • Local Eateries Quick & Tasty Meals
  • Tea & Snack Stalls On the route
  • Restaurants Family Friendly
  • Near the falls there may only be a few snack and drink vendors, and they don't always open. Carry drinking water and a packed meal.
  • Town restaurants in Chandauli and on the highway are a detour, not waterfall-side, so plan your meal stop on the drive.
  • Leave no trace: take your waste back with you, and check whether food is allowed in the sanctuary zone you visit.

Things to Do

Explore Devdari and Rajdari waterfalls, go for nature walks, spot wildlife in the Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary, visit nearby dams and temples, and spend time in the peaceful forest surroundings. A great destination for photographers and nature lovers.

Do

Watch from designated viewpoints, birdwatch from permitted areas, and add Latif Shah Dam or Chakia Kali Mandir to your day.

Don't

No cliff-edge selfies, diving, wading in strong currents, littering, feeding wildlife, loud music or off-trail entry.

The falls are strongest in the monsoon, which also brings slippery rocks, sudden water rises and possible access restrictions.
